The Nepali national holiday, Women’s Day, was observed while we were in Kathmandu recently. To celebrate the day, the two Foresight sponsored young women and I went out for tea and their first ever hot brownie sundae. While lingering over our tea and dessert we agreed that the plight of women in Nepal certainly deserves attention. Unlike many Nepali women who suffer from low literacy and economic deprivation, these young women have the chance to pursue higher education.  One studies in a Bachelor program in Management.  The other studies for a B.S. in Social Work. While these two women have a chance to fulfill their dreams for an education, many Nepali girls and women are not so fortunate. We trust that as more women like these become educated, they will influence the culture to the benefit of their less fortunate sisters.
